about thestarknet
Q: What is "TheStarkNet"?
A: My name is Todd Stark, and I work under the name TheStarkNet. I am a graduate of the University of Maryland (College Park), with additional certifications in Web Design and Internet Technologies. I have extensive experience working on my own, and I also work closely with Annapolis Web Publishing. I create high-quality websites from top to bottom, in addition to performing improvements on existing sites - quickly, reliably, and for a very reasonable and competitive cost.
Q: What kind of technologies do you work with?
A: I am proficient with Macromedia Dreamweaver 8, as well as with coding XHTML and CSS by hand. I also work with PHP, MySQL, Flash 8, ColdFusion, and a variety of other technologies, including many third-party solutions.
Q: What kind of things can you include on my site?
A: In addition to striking design and seamless usability and navigation, I can create original graphics and logos, streaming music and video, animation, forms and other programming, databases, message boards, e-commerce stores, and content management. Whatever you'd like to have on your site, talk to me about it, and chances are that we can work something out.
Q: I don't have a domain name (web address) - can you help me obtain one?
A: Yes. I can secure the best available domain name for you or your company at a very low rate (currently $10/year) with no additional fees.
Q: I don't have server space (or space on the web to put up my site). Can you help me here?
A: Yes, I can. I have access to an excellent dedicated server, a service which I can extend to you for a very competitive price.
Q: Can you get my site so that it appears in the major search engines?
A: Once again, yes. Upon completion of the project, I will work with you to choose the most effective keywords (words that the search engines look for to index your site) and submit it to Google and Yahoo!, which in turn submits it to the majority of the other popular engines. (Note: I cannot guarantee search ranking, although I can guarantee placement.)
Q: How much do you charge for your services?
A: I use a sliding scale, based on the type of customer. I usually charge a lower rate for artists/musicians and non-profit organizations than for small businesses, which in turn receive a lower rate than larger businesses. We will agree on a rate shortly after our initial discussion.
I keep exceptionally honest and precise track of the time spent. Of course, certain services take longer than others to provide. I will provide an estimate at the beginning of the project, and while this is not to be used as a strict guideline, it will provide a reliable framework. If the project's specifications change over time - which they often do - I will update my estimate as needed.
Q: Can you maintain my site after you've finished working on it?
A: In most circumstances, yes.
Q: I am interested in contacting you. How can I do so?
A: Click here to contact me. Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to working with you!
